AGOO, La Union—Five journalists from The College Forum (TCF) and the organization’s Facebook publication page won awards during the 2nd Organization of Student Services Educators Inc. (OSSEI) National Webinars and Competitions on Campus Journalism held via Zoom on April 10, 17 and 24, 2021.
Romar Glenn Flores from the College of Computer Science (CCS) and the Chief Lay-out Artist of TCF secured a back-to-back win as he nabbed the first place again in Layout and Page Design.
Aivan Jomar Gualberto from the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), one of TCF’s Senior Editors, won first place in Pagsulat ng Pangulong Tudling, while Divine Arcel Munar from the same college and the Editor-in-Chief gained an honorable mention in Editorial Writing English category.
John Dovi Gonzales, the Associate Editor, from the College of Education (CE) grabbed two awards: third place in Layout and Page Design and second place in Best Published News Photo with his photograph during DMMMSU’s relief operation in Batangas. Meanwhile, Jero Basangan’s article about Genshin Impact seized the third place in Best Published Sports Report. Mr. Basangan is one of the circulation managers of the paper.
Lastly, the virtual platform of TCF in Facebook secured a third place, alongside The Review of Northwestern University, in Best Online Publication (Facebook).
This is the first time that TCF joined the contest for the search of Best Online Publication and Best Published Articles.
This year, almost a hundred participants joined the webinar to hear from OSSEI veteran speakers: Ben Domingo Jr., Llana Barro, Regidor Gaboy, Dave Ventura, and Glenn Agustin.
OSSEI National Webinars and Competitions on Campus Journalism is an annual journalistic event. This year, OSSEI held this annual event online.
