Sixteen (16) degree programs of the University were submitted for accreditation by the Accrediting Agency for Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), Inc. via online on December 14 to 20, 2020.

The following 6 graduate programs from the College of Graduate Studies (CGS) of the South La Union Campus were evaluated for Level IV Phase 2 (the Lead Accreditors are shown in parentheses):

  • MA in Guidance and Counseling (Dr. Marivic T. Sanchez)
  • MA in Language Teaching (Dr. Boyet L. Batang)
  • MA in Mathematics Education (Dr. Analyn M. Gamit)
  • MA in Science Education (Dr. Aurea Marie M. Sandoval)
  • MA in Teaching Music (Dr. Rhea A. Bunda)
  • MA in Special Education (Dr. Helen S. Delos Santos)

The North La Union Campus, on the other hand, submitted the following 2 programs for sustainability assessment (the Lead Accreditors are shown in parentheses):

  • BS in Agribusiness Management major in Cooperative Management Entrepreneurship (Dr. Milagros M. Antonio)
  • BS in Agroforestry major in Watershed Management (Dr. Judith B. Jomadiao)

These 2 programs were awarded Level IV Reaccredited Status in 2016.

NLUC also submitted these 2 programs for Level IV Phase 1 (the Lead Accreditors are in parentheses: BS in Environmental Science (Dr. Elena M. Manaig) , and BS in Information Systems (Prof. Charlotte B. Carandang) .

Moreover, the Mid La Union Campus submitted BS in Industrial Technology for sustainability assessment, and 5 other programs for Level IV Phase 1. Below are the programs (the Lead Accreditors are shown in parentheses):

  • BS in Industrial Technology (Dr. Felipe A. Pialago)
  • BS in Information Technology (Prof. Marlon R. Perena)
  • BS in Business Administration major in Human Resource Development Management, Financial Management, Marketing Management (Dr. Maria Blanca S. Sy)
  • Bachelor of Elementary Education (Prof. Ronan M. Cajigal)
  • BS in Hotel and Restaurant Management (Prof. Lovella Christianne A. Gulle)
  • AB in Political Science (Dr. Lalevie C. Lubos)

For Level IV Phase 2, the programs were evaluated on 5 areas mandatory areas namely: research, performance of graduates profile, community services, international linkages and consortia, and the planning process were uploaded online. Presentations by Program Chairs, and interviews were also conducted.

For Level IV Phase 1, Program Performance Profile (PPP), Compliance Report, and supporting documents on these 10 areas were uploaded for evaluation:

  • Students
  • Research
  • Extension and Community Involvement
  • Library
  • Physical Plant and Facilities
  • Laboratories
  • Administration

In his inspirational speech during the opening meetings, President Jaime I. Manuel, Jr. extended his appreciation both to those who worked on the various levels of accreditation in the past and those involved in now:

“I would like to dedicate every praise, pride, and honor DMMMSU is accorded with to all the great men and women who have laid the foundations of accreditation at DMMMSU and to all equally great men and women who keep the legacy of hard work, commitment, and dedication burning.”

During the exit cum closing conference, the accreditors praised the task forces for the huge work they have done. Recognizing the challenges of online accreditation, they left impressive comments on each of the programs they evaluated. They also applauded the virtual hosts (MIS experts namely: Ezekiel Bacungan and Zordell Rae DC. Pascua of SLUC; Michael Almoite and Daniel Neri of NLUC; and Joseph Patacsil , Ivan Alicante, Jansen Paul Marquez, Angelo Sibayan, and Brian Racafort of MLUC) for their invaluable help during the online activities which include uploading of documents, running errands for the Program Chairs and the Lead Accreditors during the accreditation, and also for facilitating the opening and exit cum closing meetings.  (Ayu)
