Despite the things Covid-19 took away from the world, SLUC is still grateful for this year. The DMMMSU-SLUC community offers thanksgiving today through a holy mass and a worship service. The mass was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Joel Templa at the JDA Hall while the worship service for non-Catholics was simultaneously done in the Multi-Purpose Hall by Pastor Roland Coloma. Fr. Templa reminds the congregation of Zecharaiah and Elizabeth’s attitude of relentless prayer and repentance while earnestly waiting for a child. “God will hear our prayers if we are persistent in asking,” he says, while emphasizing the importance of repentance and ‘repainting’ in one’s life. Meanwhile, Pastor Coloma preaches about ‘Thinking of Thanking’, the story of the 10 lepers who were healed by Jesus. He highlighted the fact that people never seem to appreciate God until they are stripped of everything they have. The thanksgiving mass and service serves as a precursor to the Presentation of Accomplishments and Target Planning program that will also take place later today. The SLUC admin maintains that all Covid-19 precautionary measures are upheld and followed before and during the said events. (Zander Mercado)
