The University underwent and passed the Stage 1 Certification Audit conducted by Shahid Mushtaq, Lead Auditor, and Jean Seterra, Auditor, from ACS W3 Solutions on November 4 to 6, 2020 in accordance with the requirements of ISO 9001:2015. The audit scope is the provision of instruction, research, extension and support services.

Below are the objectives for Stage 1 Audit:

  • Assess the organization’s determination of its contexts in relation to its own unique circumstances and assess the organization’s identification of External and Interested Parties and evaluate the completeness and appropriateness of this as well as assessing the expected effectiveness of approaches within the organization to monitor and review information in the future that is relevant to this.
  • Assess the organization’s identification of the Needs and Expectations arising from the identified External and Internal Parties and evaluate the completeness and appropriateness of this as well as assess the expected effectiveness of approaches within the organization to monitor and review information in the future that is relevant to this.
  • Assess the organization’s documented determination of the scope and boundaries of the Management System and evaluate whether this is appropriate to the identified and declared activities in terms of both the applied for scope of certification and the organization’s determination of its context.
  • Assess the organization’s identification of the Risks and Opportunities arising from the determination of the context of the organization, its identification of External and Internal Interested Parties and the Needs and Expectations of those Interested Parties and evaluate the appropriateness and completeness of this.
  • Assess the organization’s planning of the Management System to ensure that it addresses the Risks and Opportunities identified and evaluate the completeness of this.
  • Assess the extent of implementation of the Management System – to include at least the performance of Internal Audit of the Management System and a Management Review – and the extent of relevant and required knowledge of the Management System requirements throughout the organization, client site and site-specific conditions in order to be able to evaluate the readiness of the organization for the required Stage 2 Audit.

The virtual audit was conducted during the first two days. On the first day, the auditors interviewed the President and the Vice Presidents. On the second day, Function Directors virtually presented various Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to the auditors.

Dr. Lilito D. Gavina, Director for Planning and Development, presented SOPs for Planning and Development; Dr. Elsie M. Pacho, Director for Instruction, presented SOPs for Instruction; Prof. Keneth G. Bayani, Director for Research, presented SOPs for Research; Dr. Eladio E. Camalig, Jr., Director for Extension presented SOPs for Extension; Dr. Stephan Kupsch, Director for Management Information Systems (MIS), presented SOPs for MIS; Atty. Kristine Gay B. Balanag, Director for Administrative Services presented Human Resources Management (HRM) SOPs; and Dr. Angelita J. Prado, Director for Internal Quality Assurance System SOPs.

On the third day, November 6, 2020, the auditors discussed their observations and declared that DMMMSU has hurdled the Stage 1 Audit.
