Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University – North La Union Campus (DMMMSU-NLUC) held a groundbreaking ceremony on its three-storey library building on September 9, 2020 at the former Motorpool adjacent to the NLUC nursery. Dr. Priscilo P. Fontanilla, VP for Planning and Resource Development; Dr. Junifer Rey E. Tabafunda, NLUC Chancellor; Ms. Sheena R. Pardilla, NLUC Library Staff; and Engr. Jesuseño D. Madrid spearheaded the said ceremony. The state-of-the-art library has a floor area of 16 x 38 meters. 15-M is budgeted for Phase 1.
The University President, Dr. Jaime I. Manuel Jr., envisions a green and highly modernized library. He stated that the new library shall not only be a mere storehouse of books and other library materials but it shall cater and support flexible learning methodologies. It shall also address the different learning styles of the different clienteles.
The new NLUC library is designed as a wall-less and globally-connected library. It is geared to serve tech savvy community.
The project is under the J.D. Madrid Construction. The expected date of completion of Phase 1 is on February 2021.
