Professor Ferdinand Navarro was honored in the celebration of the Farmers’ and Fisherfolk’s Month at the Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Office I (DA-RFO I), May 26, 2020.
Prof. Navarro was awarded by the DA-RFO I Executive Director, Mr. Lucrecio R. Alviar, Jr. for being the 2019 National Gawad Saka Winner for being the Most Outstanding High Value Crops Farmer, thereby inspiring all other farmers and fisherfolk in the region through his success as a farmer.
The College of Agriculture professor mentioned in his speech that joining and winning the Gawad Saka search opened many opportunities for him like becoming a constant partner of the Department of Agriculture in disseminating agricultural technologies and innovative high value crops farming practices which are showcased through his farm.
In addition to his certificate of recognition, the DA-RFO I executive director also awarded Prof. Navarro with one power sprayer, vegetable seeds, and a multi-cultivator and hand tractor to follow, as pledged by DA-RFO I Operations Chief Dr. Annie Bares.
The program, which had the theme “Pagpupugay sa mga Magsasaka at Mangingisda natin, tungo sa Sapat na Pagkain” was done following social distancing rules and was in simultaneous celebration with the other regions in the country.
