The 4-day mission of the 4-man team of the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU), led by Pres. Jaime I. Manuel, Jr., to forge a possible functional academic cooperation and partnership with the University of Eastern Finland (UEF), Kuopio and Joensuu campuses, concludes today in high spirits and on a positive note.
The UEF top administrators: Professor Jukka Monkkonen, University Rector; Professor Jussi Pihlajamaki, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences; Professor Hannele Turunen, Head of the Department of Nursing Science; and Professor Markku Hauta-Kasari, Head of the School Computing, expressed interest and willingness for the execution of a Memorandum of Understanding along staff and student exchange in the areas of Nursing Sciences, Information Technology, and Distance Education following protocol and processes.
During their 4-day visit that started on November 26, 2019, the DMMMSU contingent had a series of fruitful meetings and lectures with key UEF officials with tours in the two campuses visiting state-of-the-art facilities including the Kuopio University Hospital.
DMMMSU also presented its vision, mission, programs, activities and some vital information and milestones of its College of Community Health and Allied Medical Sciences (CCHAMS)to the UEF officials where a spirited discussion ensued.
The fruitful DMMMSU learning visit and mission was ably facilitated and coordinated by: Ms. Malileh Nekouei, UEF University Teacher and International Academic Coordinator of the Department of Nursing Science and Ms. Anndra Dumo, UEF doctoral candidate and a DMMMSU-SLUC first batch Nursing graduate. This is another testament to the enduring initiative of the University toward a vigorous cross-border and transnational education and internalization which is one of the flagship thrusts of the Commission on Higher Education.
