Geared with quick wits and powerful voice, Gener V. Orencia seized the 10th spot in the overall ranking of the 4th Association of Universities of Asia and the Pacific’s (AUAP) Student English Speaking Competition, held at Sias University in Zhengzhou, China, November 3-7, 2019.

In the Prepared Speech round of the competition, Orencia delivered a Romeo-and-Juliet-inspired piece revolving around the theme, “Life is not just about survival, but also about realizing self-fulfillment,” to snag 6th place. He soared once again in the Extemporaneous Speech round and settled for the 10th spot overall, capping his journey in the contest.

The 1st year BSE student shined among the 23 articulate participants from the Philippines, Indonesia, Bangladesh, India, China, and Iran.

Orencia is one of the three participants from DMMMSU. Coleen T. Dreessen and Samantha G. Ronquillo bannered for the MLUC and NLUC, respectively. Dreessen emerged as Top 8 in the Prepared Speech round and Top 6 in the overall final ranking.

The three students were selected and screened by coaches/tutors of the Center of Languages and Intercultural Communication and Knowledge (CLICK), under the University Office of Internationalization and Linkages.
